The Science of TriphaLax
Constipation is a widespread condition that will increasingly affect an aging
U.S. population. TriphaLax is intended for gentle relief of temporary constipation
which may result from stress, changes in routine due to travel or changes in
diet. Other causes include lack of exercise or inadequate dietary fiber or liquids.
TriphaLax consists of an extract of the leaves and pods of Indian senna (Senna
alexandrina; syn. Cassia acutifolia, C. angustifolia, C. senna), a time-honored
herbal laxative widely used in both Eastern and Western medicine, and Triphala
(“three fruits”), an ancient Ayurvedic formula traditionally used
to normalize bowel function, improve digestion, and rejuvenate and strengthen
tissues. TriphaLax also contains Coriander fruits (Coriandrum sativum) which
are traditionally combined with Indian Senna to soothe and stimulate digestion.
Animal studies have shown that Coriander fruit significantly reduced the time
required for food to transit the digestive tract and increased bile acid secretion
which assists digestion.
