Kukicha - a.k.a. 'twig tea' - is a traditional Japanese tea variety made from the stems and stalks of the tea shrub, the same plant that green tea and black tea are made from ( Camellia sinensis ). After the twigs are pruned from the shrub, they are steamed and dried, then aged and gently roasted.
How does it taste? Pleasantly rich, nutty and roasted; far less astringent than green tea. Serve with lemon, if desired.

For maximum benefit, medicinal tea must be properly prepared. Pour 8 oz. freshly boiled water over a tea bag in a cup. Cover cup and steep 5 minutes. These steps directly influence the amount of beneficial components that will end up in your teacup! Gently squeeze the tea bag to release any remaining extract.
Drink 3 cups or more daily. For an extra strength brew, use two teabags or brew up a whole pot using four or five teabags.
