Inositol is fundemental for cell membranes and is necessary
for proper functioning of nerves, brain and muscles in the body. It functions
closely with vitamin B complex. It is primarily used in the treatment of liver
problems, depression panic attacks and diabetes. It aids in the breakdown of
fats, helps in the reduction of blood cholesterol levels and helps to prevent
the thinning of hair. Neurotransmitters such as serotonin in the brain depend
on Inositol to function properly. There appears to be some evidence that decreased
levels of Inositol may have a role to play in people suffering
from depression.
