Personal Hormone Assessment Kit - Saliva Hormone Test (Does not include price
of testing)
Body Function Supported: The information acquired with Evalu8
allows one to better understand his or her hormone profile, and thus, choose
the right products.
Background: Balanced hormones are an important indication
of optimum health. For example, poor libido, loss of hair, acne, and menopause
symptoms correlate to hormonal imbalances. The saliva assay method, used for
the Evalu8 profiles, uses a proprietary extraction process that cleans the saliva
of all the toxins and impurities first. This "pure" saliva yields
the most accurate hormone level reading. Saliva assays are performed at Life-flo
Group's AllVia Diagnostic Laboratories, a state-of-the-art diagnostic CLIA certified
laboratory. Life-flo encourages individuals to work with their doctors to best
understand the saliva test results.
How to Use: Follow instructions in the insert inside the package.
All you need is to isolate your saliva. The saliva test kit includes a collection
tube, instructions, a requisition form and a prepaid mailing tube.
Special Advantages: The saliva test method is considered more
accurate than blood testing, as it profiles the "free hormones" circulating
in the body. These are the hormones that are active and bio-available to the
body's cells and tissues when needed. Most routine blood tests for hormones,
in contrast, measure the amount of hormones in the blood stream. 98% of these
hormones are in storage (bound to blood proteins), and are not bio-available
to tissues. Saliva testing offers an added advantage as the samples can be taken
at the optimum times of the day, thus, giving a precisely controlled result.

Some Common Questions:
When should I test my hormone levels?
If you are starting a hormonal supplementation program. It is best to establish
a baseline level - then repeat the test during or after the program to establish
changes.
How often should I have my levels tested?
Testing can be done periodically to assess changes in your hormone levels or
to monitor the success of a hormone supplementation.
Who analyzes my saliva sample?
The Evalu8 saliva assays are performed at AllVia Labs (a division of Life-flo
Health Care Products), in Phoenix, Arizona. AllVia Labs' state-of-the-art saliva
testing facility is CLIA licensed, and utilizes highly sensitive and proprietary
technology. This is also the same procedure recommended by Dr. John Lee, M.D.,
and author of "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You about Menopause."
How stable is my saliva sample?
Hormones remain stable in the saliva at room temperature for several weeks.
However, if you anticipate a delay in sending your saliva sample - more than
24 hours - we recommend freezing the sample until shipping.
Will I understand the results of the profile?
The results you receive are presented numerically. Normal hormone levels are
listed on the report, so you will easily be able to interpret the results of
your tests. If you feel you need medical advice, discuss the results with your
doctor.
Will medical insurance pay for the tests?
Medical insurance and some HMO's will sometimes cover the cost of laboratory
tests, if a medical practitioner requests them. "Self-requested testing"
of hormone levels is not covered by most health care plans. Consult your medical
practitioner and/or health insurance for more information.
