One of the largest trees in the world, Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) can reach heights of over 250 feet. Native to Austrailia, Eucalyptus can be found in parts of India, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. The Austrialian aborigines were probably the first to discover the health benefits of Eucalyptus. They also discovered the roots to be an excellent source of water since they hold an astonishing amount of liquid.
Eucalyptus leaves can add interest to potpourris, provide a refreshing ingredient to skin lotion and can also be used in an herbal bath. Eucalyptus leaf oil contains a chemical (Eucalyptol) that gives the herb its pleasant aroma and healing value.
