DHEA is produced by the adrenal gland and is a naturally occurring
androgen within the human body in both males and females. It is the second most
prevalent hormone and the most prevalent androgen. It is a necessary building
block for a variety of compounds manufactured in the human body.
It is believed that as we age, the progressive deficiency of this hormone may
be associated with the symptoms of aging. Supplemental DHEA can restore normal
levels of this important naturally occurring hormone. According to biochemists,
DHEA de-excites the body’s processes and some of the diseases of aging
caused by the runaway production of nucleic acid, fats and hormones. DHEA regulates
their production and may slow down aging. DHEA may have a significant impact
on fat loss & lean body mass.
More recent therapies for weight control have been limited to blocking the
G6PD fat producing enzyme. DHEA may increase the body’s ability to transform
food into energy, burn off excess fat and prevent fat from accumulating in the
first place. DHEA may block cortisol’s catabolic effects on muscle tissue.
Increasing concentrations of DHEA stimulates insulin-like growth factor synthesis.
This translates to anti-catabolic actions that may prevent muscle wasting and
promote lean muscle tissue maintenance and growth.
